Cool Bars & Places to Drink in RiNo, Denver

RiNo, or River North, is one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in Denver. You'll find a great mix of local breweries, distilleries, cocktail bars, and wine bars to choose from, plus additional options in Denver’s nearby Lower Downtown and Ballpark neighborhoods.

What's Brewing in RiNo?

  • Great Divide1812 35th Street – the neighborhood’s biggest brewery, Great Divide has scored many awards at the Great American Beer Festival over the years and expanded into their location in RiNo as they grew. Offering an outdoor patio and large windows, Great Divide is a great place in all seasons.

  • Bierstadt Lagerhaus2875 Blake Street – named the Best Brewery in Colorado by Denver Microbrew Tours, Bierstadt Lagerhaus is a “back to basics” German brewery featuring lagers, pilsners, helles, and rotating taps.

  • Odell Brewing’s Five Points Brewhouse2945 Larimer Street – spread across two floors, Odell Brewing’s Five Points Brewhouse features lots of small-batch brews with a wide variety of IPAs and sours. Odell is always experimenting and concocting cool new creations for its patrons.

  • Black Shirt Brewing3719 Walnut Street – while their philosophy is “do one thing, do it well,” you won’t be singularly bored with their variety of delicious brews, pizza, and live music to entertain you while you while away your time.

And RiNo offers more than beer… if whiskeys, ciders, or wine are more your speed, there are options for every taste:

  • Stem Ciders Taproom2811 Walnut Street – opening their doors in 2014, Stem Ciders helped build RiNo’s brewing culture into what it is today. If you are gluten-free and dig cider, this is your spot.

  • Bigsby’s Folly3563 Wazee Street – crush your own grapes, mash, blend, and taste at Bigsby’s Folly winery. A great neighbor, the owners are very connected to the arts district, hosting art and animal welfare events.

  • Deep Roots Winery2875 Blake Street – a cozy urban tasting room where visitors can enjoy locally crafted wines in a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere.

  • The Block Distilling2990 Larimer Street – whether it’s locally made gins or vodkas you’re into, The Block Distilling distills them all with great customer service and a club you can join for special access for members only.

  • Ironton Distillery3636 Chestnut Place – these crafty barkeeps serve up creative rum, whiskey, vodka, gin, or non-alcoholic options catered to every taste at their award-winning distillery. Beer and wine options are also available.

  • Nocturne Jazz & Supper Club1330 27th Street – A modern jazz and supper club that marries the culinary, cocktail, and musical arts to create a singular, unforgettable experience, featuring live jazz nightly and a seasonal three-course menu.

Further Afield

RiNo is also near some of Denver’s best bars in the Ballpark or LoDo (Lower Downtown) neighborhoods. Here are a few of our faves:

  • Wynkoop Brewing Company1634 18th Street – Before John Hickenlooper was Denver’s Mayor and then a US Senator, he was one of the founders of Denver’s first craft brewery more than 30 years ago. Wynkoop Brewing Company is still serving great craft beers and food and offers a billiards room for those who like to shoot pool.

  • The Velvet Cellar1500 Wynkoop Street – Perfect for cocktails prior to a Nuggets, Avs, or Rockies game, The Velvet Cellar is conveniently located near both Ball Arena and Coors Field. (Note: Unable to verify a website for The Velvet Cellar.)

  • The Cruise Room1600 17th Street – Step back to the Prohibition era and step into The Cruise Room at the Oxford Hotel. Modeled after the Queen Mary ocean liner and adorned in an art deco style, The Cruise Room is the perfect place to start or end your evening with a martini.

And on nice days, there are a plethora of cool rooftop bars to enjoy a late afternoon or early evening gathering. Some of the best closest to home include: 54thirty in Le Meridien Hotel, the ViewHouse in the Ballpark neighborhood or The Red Barber right in your backyard in RiNo.
